How does therapy work?

Individual:

If you haven’t confessed to the affair, you may be grappling with doubts about whom to choose between your lover and your official partner. Perhaps you are processing the end of a relationship with a lover, but you have to suppress the pain in the presence of your family. Or maybe you are experiencing a strong sense of guilt and you feel lost.

In any case, it might be a good idea to consult a professional who can guide and listen to you in a non-judgmental manner.

My job is to welcome you and help you gain clarity, sometimes providing you with concrete strategies to cope with symptoms you may be experiencing, from obsessive thoughts to states of anxiety, without ever pushing you to make forced decisions.

Remember: you are the expert of your life.

Couple Therapy:

The first meeting takes place as a couple: you will be invited to tell me your story and the difficulties you are facing following the betrayal.

It’s important that each of you can speak freely to the psychologist about whatever you want: for this reason, the second and third sessions are individual.

You will never be judged, and if you inform your psychologist about something you don’t want your partner to know, remember that the professional is bound by confidentiality.

This is an important moment, as it allows partners to speak absolutely freely.

From the very first session, you may receive instructions on how to start improving.

In any case:

  • Initially, you will be given a listening space, useful for first understanding your expectations and defining your goals.
  • Subsequently (often during the first session), practical tools will be analyzed and provided to interrupt dysfunctional attempted solutions: those behaviors that are put in place to solve a problem but actually worsen it.
  • After each session, you will receive an anonymous questionnaire where you can express your opinion on the meeting. This allows me to understand if there are areas for improvement in my work.

Where do I welcome my patients?

I mainly work online, so as to be able to help anyone from around the world. I also have two offices, at Via Nomentana 60 in Rome (RM) on Fridays and at Via Poli 85 in Portici (NA) on Wednesdays.

Online meetings are via videocall or phone call. Online therapy, according to many scientific papers, is as effective as in-person meetings.

Do you offer initial free consultations?

By filling out the form on this page, you can access a free 20-minutes initial consultation. In this first interaction, we can get to know each other and assess the possibility of working together. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to ask me questions to clarify aspects of our journey.

How do we know if we need help?

If you and your partner have communication issues, frequent arguments, loss of trust (such as following a betrayal), or loss of physical or emotional intimacy, it may be a good idea to seek help. Feel free to fill the form on this page to talk to me about your case.

What if my partner doesn’t want to start therapy?

I can also work with just one person; obviously, this will not be a couples journey, but an individual one. This is not always feasible, so it would be better if we had a chance to talk before booking your first session.

What should we expect after completing couples therapy?

After completing the journey, you can expect to have a better understanding of each other and to have strategies for better managing the relationship. Another common outcome is having a more fulfilling and satisfying relationship.
